People, Christians included, should celebrate their holidays in whatever way they wish. Big dinner with trees and glitter, or quiet prayer and contemplation, it’s all fine with me. I just hate it when they say no-one else should have the holiday because Christians somehow "own" it. That’s when we have to tell them they don’t. They took it without asking. We call that stealing.

But it’s okay, we’ll let them join in in our pagan feast. We’re nice like that.

If you are christian you do not neccessarily celebrate halloween, Easter and Christmas for thier pagan purposes. To christians Christmas is the birth of Christ, Easter is the day Jesus rose from the dead and halloween is called all souls day or all saints day and that is truly what we celebrate.

i view it the same as the isrealites worshiping the golden calf. they said the were worshiping the LORD but he still punished the all the same, so i avoid such holidays which cross lines between peganism and Christianity

In the early days of the church it was easier to get converts by saying we have a tradition on the same day as that celebration. All you have to do is research on the history of christianity and you will see how and why they did it.

because they are fun and we have celebrated them for centuries. sure, the church appropriated pagan holidays and catholicized them…one: most people don’t know that, and two:why on earth not? people who take religion to seriously are just ridiculous in my opinion. believe in God, try to be a good person, try not to break commandments on a regular basis if at all, and forget the rest. get a divorce, have an abortion, celebrate fun holidays with pagan roots, marry someone of another faith, have a baby out of wedlock…it’s all good as long as you are a decent person and are not purposely hurting anyone and living the best life you can.

When I celebrate Christmas …I am celebrating the birth of my Savior.
When I celebrate Easter ….I celebrate the Resurrection of my Savior.
I don’t celebrate Halloween.

I will stop celebrating the two above when I feel convicted. As of yet, I have not. I do believe God rejoices when we sing his praises during Christmas as well as other times. To not celebrate these holidays is just religious jargon. I am a Christian but I don’t do man-made religion.

Because they do what they’re told.

Why was Pagan new years turned into April Fools Day? so Christians could refer to Pagans as fools for celebrating a different new year then everyone else. We wouldn’t dare call chinese people fools for celebrating a different (arbitrary) day, but the Christians did exaclty that as they spread an conquered.

I celebrate my faith and family. I know of the pagan origins. It became mainstream and doesnt really bug me, but I will inform people if they ask, or state a whole bunch of wrong things and I blow my top!
