Easter is set by the first full moon after the vernal equinox. This is the one day in the year when day and night are roughly equal!

It varies by more than a month over the years and so it simply cannot represent the date of anyone’s death!!!

It is in fact a combination of several pagan festivals most notably the spring festival.

The name Easter comes from “Eastre” an Anglo-Saxon pagan goddess. Also the Norse goddess,Ostara who took her name from the Teutonic lunar goddess Eostre

Even the Chinese have the festival of Ching Ming where flowers and sweets are put on their ancestors graves!!

The egg and the rabbit are symbols of springtime and rebirth along with the custom of giving flowers etc!!

The Venerable Bede, an early Christian writer pointed out that the Christian church absorbed Pagan practices when it found the population unwilling to give up the festivals. Thus a lot of what Christians now see as Christians practices are in fact pagan!!!

Fun to watch the Christians worshiping a pagan festival though – makes it just like Christmas when they do the same thing!!!

I've always wondered why the day of Jesus' death was called Good Friday. It would seem that Easter should be called Good Sunday, instead. But, then again, no one really knows if those were the days that Jesus died and was resurrected. That's just the belief of the Catholic Church.

He died that we might live forever, went to hell and gave the dead the chance to believe in Him, then arose from the dead on the third day and went to heaven to sittith on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, and intercede for you if you believe in Him.

we are celebrating the resurrection, not the death. Although I do wonder why people wear crosses. If he had died in the middle ages would people wear a guillotine? If he had died now, would they wear an electric chair? ...a noose?

I think that the death of jesus is remembered on Good Friday. It is a day of solemn church services and people tend to wear dark colors, as though at a funeral. Easter is a celebration to christians because it is perceived that this is the day that jesus rose from the dead. They are celebrating the resurrection of jesus, not his death, but his "triumph" over death.

we don’t celebrate his death at all.
that is not what easter is about.
we celebrate his resurrection on the third day and his payment for our sins
