I don’t get it. What’s with the whole Easter Bunny and egg hunting stuff? Why are we doing this stuff.
Most of the previous answers are partially correct. Easter was originally a pagan holiday like Christmas was. They celebrated the "new earth" (spring) and the birth of animal babies, etc. Eggs are a symbol of birth.
ALSO, Good Friday is the day that Jesus died, and Easter Monday is the day that he rose from the grave.
Jesus died shortly after Passover, which is just before Easter today.
Jesus told the diciples to remember his death and resurrection – so Easter is a big Holiday for Christians, and following the previous early Christian rituals, they used Pagan Holiday celebrations to use for this holiday to remember Jesus’s death and resurrection.

Well Easter contrary to many people think has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. Well not back in the old days. It is actually an old pagan hoiday adapted by christians. The Easter Bunny and Eggs are actually symbols of fertility that the pagans used to use to appease their gods. check up online encyclopaedias for more info.

Easter is a holiday that celebrates the day that Jesus rose from the dead after he was crucified three days before. The holiday is all about new life and an egg is one of the biggest symbols of new life. The date of Easter is always on the day of the first full moon after the vernal equinox or the sunday after. The vernal or spring equinox is the exact moment that the sun crosses directly over the equator. I don’t know why we hunt for easter eggs but I hope that this answer helps!! (:

Humans have always celebrated the ending of winter and the beginning of warmer weather. The bunnies and eggs and all that are just symbols or that renewal.

It has to do with the pagan goddess Oestra, who liked rabbits and eggs. As far as I can tell.
