is celebrating christmas good?

for me, celebrating chrismas originate from the pagan culture celebrating the god of sun. we can enyoy giving gifts even it is not chrismas. we can also show love to anybody even it is not christmas.
jesus did not command us to celebrate his birth instead he command us to celebrate his death.

I agree with you. Since I don’t celebrate it any longer, some people will come to me and whisper how it is all about material gifts and things and the woman usually has to do all the work and the children/grandchildren don’t appreciate it, etc. And others gripe that they are paying for the gifts they gave till April.

I take the money I used to spend and use it through out the year and try to find people who truly need help. Jesus say Christians are supposed to care for people, clothe the naked, feed the hungry and heal the sick. Those three things I’ve helped people who were truly needy instead of buying luxury items for people who have everything they need.

I celebrate Christmas in part, because I can. I live in a country where I have the freedom to celebrate, or not, as I choose. My grandparents fled from a country where their freedoms were restricted. They were Christians. When they came to the US, they celebrated with a tree and gifts and lights and turkey, because they could. And it made them happy to bless their family with these things.
Celebrate the holiday in a way that makes in meaningful to you. I celebrate Christ’s birth and resurrection all year round. For me, it’s nice to have a time of year, however, to really reflect and re-read the stories.
The presents, the tree, Santa Claus are just nice traditions; a way to mark the years and bond and celebrate with your family and friends. It’s also a bright spot in what otherwise could be a long, cold and dark (boring) winter.
