I know some countries have similar celebrations celebrating the dead, but what other countries celebrate Halloween like we do in the U.S. ?
The US certainly isn’t the only country to celebrate Halloween. Halloween originated in Britain and Ireland, where it is still celebrated. Of course, over there they use turnips as opposed to pumpkins (the change was made in the US when Irish migrants brought over the tradition, and turnips in the UK and Ireland are about the size of pumpkins). Even the tradition of trick or treating has its origins in the British tradition of souling, which isn’t done any more.
It’s also around in Australia. Many people just have costume parties but many people, mostly people in their late teens, will go trick or treating, as do younger children. To be honest, I think most countries celebrate Halloween. There are just a lot less people that do it. Certainly everyone I associate with participates in Halloween, but many people in my neighbourhood refuse to. Spoilsports.
