In my husbands country, Morocco, which is a Muslim country today is a day of celebration. To anyone who celebrates this day Mabrouk laawacher(as is said in his country).
I know my family and I did. Cooked a feast, invited the whole family. Had prayers together. It is indeed a celebration!

I don’t think we are supposed to celebrate it. You can fast on the day though.

I dont do coz it was not done by The Prophet (S.A.W) or any of his companions & Islam never encourages us to celebrate any of the birthdays
But in my country many ppl do celebrate it.i mean on National level.

Hey Butterfly
I don’t go out of my way to celebrate it since it is not allowed, but I have done things to express happiness and appreciation to Him by following His example and teachings, and indeed that is be more pleasing to Allah (swt)and Messenger (saw).
~That is a everyday matter, not just one day~

Celebrating the Prophet’s birthday is bida (an innovation in the religion); the Prophet (saaws) did not instruct others to do it, and he didn’t have companions around him doing it and then give any type of permission (including silent permission).
We are not to make distinction between any of the Prophets. Distinction in status, for instance. Like to say one is better than another. This leads to idol worship, similar to what the christians did when they began to worship Jesus instead of treat him as the Prophet he was. They just took it a step too far.. and kept running with it, up to what it is today.
The Prophet (sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) has said: Do not over praise me as the Christians over-praised the son of Mary. I am His slave so say: ‘Allah’s slave and messenger’ [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]

Celebrating birthdays are unislamic, no matter who’s birthday it is, It comes from Christian’s so who ever celebrate a Prophets birthday is in fact imitating Christians.

I do not celebrate the birthday of Muhammad (saw) or anyone else’s birthdays, because when I lived in Saudi Arabia/Al-Hijaz, we were told that celebrating birthdays was haraam.
I celebrate the fact that Allah (swt) was so Kind to show mankind the example of a perfect man like Muhammad (saw) and that his teachings are all from Allah (swt) for the right way of life.

i celebrate the birthday of Mohammed(pbuh). i currently live in libya, and most people here celebrate it as well. i know it’s a controversial issue among muslims, but it’s not like we’re gonna go to clubs and party. for us it’s a time to get together with the entire family, and remember the life of our holy prophet(pbuh). kul sanna wa intee tayba(as we say in our country).

Some Muslim counties declared a Public Holiday on the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (S.a.w.)
It is not like the celebration of the West. But on this day, people gather together, praise Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) and talk about him, his family and his sahabah and offer prayers to all of them,

SalamALAIKUM,
PRAISE MUHAMMADpbuh,,,,
One of the controversial issues between muslims it is also a very sensitive issue ….i mean lik obviously dere r 2 perspectives of this one who say its haram or bidat e hasana n the second group is who say it is halal n whosoever declines nauzobiLLAH doesnt respect prophet Mohammed(pbuh)…i wonder if a moslem has tht much courage to do……..astaghfarulLLAH…..
yea i personally think its not sabith or proved from prophet Mohammed(pbuh)s sunnah n neva done by his followers n if v r happy ondis day v shud celebrate it lik prophet usedto by keepin a fast,n he also prohibited bdays n things lik dat,n if dere wus something tht v shud hav had done in order to respect prophet v vere told so by ALLAH SUBHAN WA TALLA to do so in holy QURAN the ways v shud for eg frm our heart ,v shud love him love him as if he is dear to us more dan our parents,he described his(pbuh)s beauty n praised him all in QURAN …n said in 5;3 tht he has completed our deen tday …..dan how come v humans hav the right to celebrate or pay tributes n make changes regardless they r gud or bad cos everychange leads to bidda n bidda leads to fire(hadees)why kant v just understand the fact tht ALLAH subahanwa taala knows more dan us n if he wanted us to praise prophet MOHAMMED pbuh in acertain way he wud hav had reminded us in the holy QURAN…or do v know more dan sahaabas or do v love prophet pbuh more dan dey use to?whic is not the case…
WALLAHU AALIM
jus a personal feelin no offence

Allahumma salli ala Muhammad wa aale Muhammad!
Ranoush (et al), you are incorrect. We Muslims are permitted and encouraged to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. Only the deviated salafists prohibit it.

Muslims aren’t supposed to celebrate holidays except for Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha. The prophets(Peace be upon them) never celebrated their birthdays. So there is no reason for Muslims to celebrate their birthdays or the birthdays of the prophets(peace be upon them).
