How do couples in Poland celebrate their wedding anniversary?

Posted by admin on October 13th, 2009 and filed under celebrate what | 4 Comments »

I’ve heard about how families celebrate weddings in Poland (for days), but I am wondering about anniversaries. What does the couples family typically do? Are there any customary gifts?

It depends which anniversary couple celebrate. Usually, there is a dinner and people say "Happy Anniversary" -nothing crazy. I do not think there is a custom of giving gifts to couple who are married for 1-19 years. However, ones the couple celebrate the 20th, 50th etc.anniversary, people/family relative will more likely give flowers, chocolate, money to couple.

I hope that helped :)

How do you celebrate Navaratri in your state?

Posted by admin on October 11th, 2009 and filed under celebrate what | 11 Comments »

Everywhere in India it’s the season of the Goddess. Navaratri is a special time for us Indians. It’s a festival for all ages. So how do you celebrate it in your state? Share the festivities and watch the fun multiply.

Most of the ways and rituals are same.
But what I think the most beautiful about Navaratra is that some people start reading Ram Charit Manas written by TulsiDas at their home and finish it in nine days. So really love this system of worshiping RamaCharitManas in nine days called Nava Parayana.

If you celebrate Christmas, at what age is it appropriate to expose the Santa Claus fiction?

You may do what you wish in your home. In my home the spirit of Santa Claus will reside forever. The magic of Christmas and the coming of the Christ Child will be celebrated for now and forever more.

What countries other than the United States celebrate Thanksgiving Day?

Please tell me which country it is, when they celebrate and some of their traditions on that holiday. Also, the name of the holiday as well. I already know a little about Thanksgiving in Korea, Australia, the UK, Malaysia and India. I’m doing a presentation and would appreciate all (serious) help.

Canada celebrates Thanksgiving, but they celebrate it on our Columbus Day!

What are some good ideas to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary?

Posted by admin on October 6th, 2009 and filed under celebrate what | 2 Comments »

What kind of project could I make or buy or do for my hubby? We’re having a dinner with our family to celebrate but I want to make or create something neat for him. Maybe somehow incorporate the 7 year itch theme?

Wow… you sound like you are the perfect something for him.
Love it when couples care about each other.

How about mixing up some silly stuff with some romance!

Your having dinner with your family this would be the perfect time to
incorporate the 7 year itch!

The day of the dinner go to the restaurant in advance of the dinner.
Give management some presents you want in the middle of the table when you all arrive. Also give them "backscratchers" to be placed at each persons tabletop seat (get these at the dollar store with perm. marker print on each one….
"___husbands name____official 7 year itch scratcher"!

Also a special cake they can bring out after dinner, you can play this
up with the seven year itch or you can have a special heartfelt one.

When all arrives the tone is set…gifts in the middle of the table,
favors for all at each seat. After dinner have the cake brought out
then let him open the gifts (last thing you do before leaving the
resturant).

In the wrapped presents there are clues to your big surprise, which is
a Romantic Hotel Room you will be whisking him off to after dinner. Have a special bag packed for him and you, include swim wear for the jagguzzi! Pre-make breakfast reservation for the next morning, have a basket waiting in the room with his favorite treats, new slippers, etc. and if he loves a car he wishes he had rent it for the week-end and have it waiting in the resturant parking lot. Some suggestions for gifts with clues would be…. A " key (any kind)" you hold the key to my heart, but I hold the key to a surprise! Another could be "lotion" with a note…"I will be the one scratching your itch tonight but not in a familar place". The last one could be…" A fly swatter" with a note that
says,"I may bug you, but I want to be the one to scratch your itch"
on the fly swatter a card with a big bow on it, inside the card a key to the hotel room letting him know you are whisking him away for the evening and if you rent a car include the key make sure you let him know the car is only for the week-end. Let him know his bags are packed and your whisking him away!

If you have kids, plan with the grandparents or others for them to spend the night and take care of them after dinner. Perhaps you can have a surprise bag for them with age approp. treats and surprises for each to take with them.

Enjoy each other and your years together. You found a needle in
a haystack and by your caring message you will be able to hang on
to your love.

Congrats on 7 years and soooo many more to come!

What is the traditional way to celebrate an american wedding?

Posted by admin on October 3rd, 2009 and filed under celebrate what | 1 Comment »

I want to know about the uses, ways and traditions when it comes to celebrate a wedding in America. Thank you!

i dont think there really is a traditional American wedding. Most of the traditions in America come from our families’ roots (europe, asia, etc) and our individual religions. Here’s what I can think of Don’t wear white (that’s the bride’s job) or black (sign that you don’t approve of the union). The mother of the bride and the mother of the groom aren’t supposed to wear the same color dress. The father of the bride walks the bride down the aisle. Guests who give monetary gifts are usually expected to give an amount at least equally the cost of their plate. At the reception after the ceremony, whenever someone clinks their glass, the newlyweds are supposed to kiss. When the bride and groom exit the church after the ceremoney, all the guests are to be waiting outside and they will either blow bubbles or release balloons when the couple steps out of the church. (They used to throw rice, but I think that got banned because it was bad for birds…. ) My sister just got married a couple weeks ago, so I’ve got a lot of stuff I can share with you, but I’m not really sure what kind of info you’re looking for. Let me know! :)

What do Presbyterians celebrate? If it is the same as any other Christian, how do they celebrate it?

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2009 and filed under celebrate what | 5 Comments »

What do they celebrate and who are their leaders?
I need this for a presentaion, and i can’t find anything on google.

Well, as a Presbyterian, I have no idea what "Miz T" is saying. Seriously. The only words I understand from her speech are Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Thanksgiving..
Anyways, we’re pretty laid back, we obviously are involved in all the major holidays, including those I said above.. Most of us are very liberal.
So it’s pretty chill, getting together with the family, exchanging presents, etc. You know, the norm.

I don’t really understand what you are asking.
:)

Oh and our leader is God :D

What is the difference between how Spain and Peru celebrate Day of the Dead?

What are the differences between how Spain and Peru celebrate Day of the Dead?
Like when is it celebrated and food they serve.

Thanks. :) !

Hi,
I’m peruvian… In Peru… the Day of the Dead (aka All Saints Day) is considered as a non-workable holiday. During this day, the families use to visit the cemeteries for a sort of "familiar meeting". There are no special foods or drinks. It’s just a day to seize remembering their gone families/friends/etc..

In Mexico, this day is more traditional… with special foods and souvenirs…

Cheers…

What traditions to you have to celebrate a child’s birthday?

Posted by admin on September 25th, 2009 and filed under celebrate what | 7 Comments »

My son is turning one today and we had his birthday party yesterday to celebrate. Him and I are going to spend the day together and go to the park today, but I also want to start some birthday traditions, but haven’t been able to come with any ideas. What are some of your birthday traditions for your kids?

My parents took me to the movies. When I was younger, we all went to Chucky Cheese’s. I also remember going to the park to fly a kite or just walk around. If I had a child, I’d do a simple treasure hunt around the house for toys for my child. Something fun that we could do together.
