If you’re interested in celebrating the more eurocentric pagan rituals around this time of year then I can reccomend the following Celebrating the Irish Festivals: by Ruth Marshall.

My main advice to you would be to read up as much as you can (online from respected sources) and discover the myths and traditions that have developed around this time of your. For the Celtic people it was a time to celebrate the return of the sun after so much gloomy darkness. Having grown up in Ireland myself I can assure you that the end of days with a couple of hours of light (which is more like twilight even on a sunny day) is something worth celebrating.

The wikipedia article on Yule would be a good starting place to do some research – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yule

The Bible has no specific date on when Jesus Christ was born, so why December 25th?

Dec 25th was picked because the Catholic Church needed converts, so they picked a day that was already celebrated by many pagans.

Hi, Happy Feast day ! I am assuming that you are referring to the feast of St. Stephen which the church celebrates on December 26th! I read some of your other questions and instead of people answering, they rushed to judge you. Shame on them! Keep your head high and don’t be afraid to share your knowledge, even at the risk of some thinking you are a know-it-all ! Thank you for your thought provoking questions. and Happy New Year, pastor !

How do you celebrate the winter holidays?

Posted by admin on December 7th, 2009 and filed under celebrate what | 2 Comments »

I don’t know about you, but I love the winter holidays. You don’t have to be of a certain religion or ethnicity to appreciate the holiday spirit.

How do you celebrate? What do you eat? With whom do you celebrate? How do you decorate your house? Do you travel or take part in any community activities? Feel free to share anything. I would especially appreciate some craft ideas or recipes.

On thankgiving my mom does this WONDERFUL recipe.

It’s twice baked potatoes, of cheese stuffed potatoes. :)

What she does it she gets a potato,
cuts it in half,
carves out the potatoes,
saves the peels for later,
she puts the potato carving in a pot, mashes up potatoes with cheese, butter, milk ,salt, and pepper.
Then After it is cooked (the potato carvings)
she stuffs the peels with the potato inside of it, tops it off with cheddar cheese, and paprika (: !
It’s greaaaaaat <3(:
