I mean why do people that come from Africa or the Jewish people celebrate christmas. I am not racist or any thing but the people need to celebrate Hanukka if your Jewish or Kwanzaa if you are african. I just want to know.

Sorry if i sound racist but i am not like that. I believe in world peace more than anything.

Happy Hollidays Everyone

um well first of all some Africans ARE Christian.
second Kwanzaa is American Holiday. It was started to Celebration of pride inn the African-American community (it may have its roots in harvest celebrations but so does Octoberfest)

None of the people I asked actually knew what they were celebrating, except that it involved pilgrims and indians and a turkey.

How does Costa Rica celebrate the holiday season during December and January?

There are parades and festivals of all kinds, two of the traditional parades are the Christmas parade and the horse parade which are held near the end of December.
The Carnavals in Zapote and Palmares also attract huge crowds of people who go danicng, partying, beer drinking, and cruising around, they also have costarrican bull fights where many people gather in a rodeo style structure called el redondel, many improvsed bull fighters tease and get close to the bull, while the crowds laugh and scream everytime the bulls catch or scares one of them.
At the end the bulls never get hurt much less killed and it ends with a firework display.
People in Costa rica celebrate the whole month of December and usually into January.
another traditional activity is the avenidazo which is the stroll along central avenue throwing confetti to others.
After people recieve their aguinaldos which is the yearly christmas bonus people start the serious christmas shopping.
December is probably the best time to visit Costa Rica.

Where did we get the holiday Thanksgiving from and why do we celebrate it with a feast?

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2009 and filed under celebrate holiday | 7 Comments »

Does anyone know where did we get the holiday known as Thanksgiving from, why do we celebrate and why do we have special foods we eat,and why isn’t the holiday commercial like Christmas?

The History channel has it all, videos included!

Though many competing claims exist, the most familiar story of the first Thanksgiving took place in Plymouth Colony, in present-day Massachusetts, in 1621. More than 200 years later, President Abraham Lincoln declared the final Thursday in November as a national day of thanksgiving. Congress finally made Thanksgiving Day an official national holiday in 1941.

Sarah Josepha Hale, the enormously influential magazine editor and author who waged a tireless campaign to make Thanksgiving a national holiday in the mid-19th century, was also the author of the classic nursery rhyme "Mary Had a Little Lamb."

In 2001, the U.S. Postal Service issued a commemorative Thanksgiving stamp. Designed by the artist Margaret Cusack in a style resembling traditional folk-art needlework, it depicted a cornucopia overflowing with fruits and vegetables, under the phrase "We Give Thanks."

do atheiests celebrate the same holiday christians do?

like christmas, for example.do atheists celebrate it?it’s about celebrating Jesus’ birth, right?

do atheists have the same holiday schedule as chirstians?

I celebrate christmas, but it’s not about Christ, it’s about getting together with my family, exchanging presents and eating good food.

Easter, not so much. If I happen to be near my mum’s house then I might go over for some food as we’ll both have time off work…but otherwise, no, don’t really celebrate it.

In my country we don’t even use the word Christmas. We celebrate Yule.

When will the illegal Alien have a national holiday to celebrate Americans giving them jobs?

Posted by admin on September 25th, 2009 and filed under celebrate holiday | 8 Comments »

I think that since Americans provide jobs for illegals mexicans we should replace Cinco de Mayo with National American apprecitation day by Chicanos. I mean its the least they can do for all the freebies we give them.

Because they don’t appreciate America. They won’t assimilate into our culture, even after our government grants them amnesty.
