Why do non-christians celebrate christians events?

Posted by admin on September 25th, 2009 and filed under celebrate events | 10 Comments »

valentines day, easter, christmas etc.
CAN I JUST SAY THAT CHRISTMAS WAS WHEN JESUS WAS BORN, EATER WAS WHEN HE ROSE AND VALENTINE IS A SAINT, SO DON’T TELL ME THEY ARE PAGEN HOLIDAYS!!
thank you for a great response, no one can prove when jesus was born bit that does’nt matter the point is we celebrate his birth at christmas.
i didnt say anything about the easter bunny or santa claus or cupid, those characters are just there for the non-christians.
dont you understand we have choclate egg and christmas tress as symbols why do hindus or whatever have fireworks

Valentines day is not a Christian event, lol…but non-Christians can celebrate what they choose and really, they do not have to give a reason to anyone.

Is it Stupid that i Dont Want to Celebrate "Special Events"?

Posted by admin on September 21st, 2009 and filed under celebrate events | 8 Comments »

, i have never wanted to celebrate anything for ex, valentines, anniversary, birthdays etc. i never expect/want my hubby to get me anything for any of those days, i think its pointless, and unneccassary, my hubby doesnt mind much but he does think i should be a bit more "exciting" i guess you could say. dont get me wrong if i know my hubby has been wanting something i’ll get it for him but i dont wait for a "special day" to do it. what do you guys think

Yup, Valentine’s Day is silly. Millions of people will purchase stuff to avoid the dangerous pitfall of offending our loved ones. The stuffed bear, card, chocolate candy and flower industry demand that we appreciate our loved ones with their products…but, nah. I’ll appreciate her my own way.

when your boss celebrate the group member’s personal event but ignore yours, can you sue for descrimination ?

Posted by admin on September 17th, 2009 and filed under celebrate events | 4 Comments »

My boss always celebrate personal events like wedding, birthdate etc of the group members and collect money from all the group members for the gift. But when it came to my event he completly ignored it. It is clearly a descrimination and insult to me. Can I sue my employer for descrimination ?
BTW: I found another job and going to quit very soon

No, as it has nothing to do with your job.

You have always had the choice of whether or not to contribute to personal events of others.

Did other in the office even know of this event? If so, then it would be a huge indicator people in the office don’t like you.

If they did not know, did you tell them or let them know in any way? If not, you really don’t have anyone to blame except yourself.

What exactly do Muslims celebrate at Eid. What event Speicfically ? I know it is the end of Ramadan?

Posted by admin on September 13th, 2009 and filed under celebrate events | 6 Comments »

Like Christmas we celebrate the birth of Christ, so using that as an example, what event or religious significance does Eid have.

Christians too have a fasting period, which ends in Easter, the ressurectuion of Christ.
Thanks to the great number of people who responded. So glad the you are all happy to share the knowledge of your religon with others.

when we muslims fast for whole month of ramadan then EID is like a gift from ALLAH for us to celebrate
we eat on that day meet others and enjoy…

edit:
dont be angry they will answer u !!
:)

why do people who deny religious affiliations celebrate the event eg. Easter, Christmas?

Posted by admin on September 11th, 2009 and filed under celebrate events | 10 Comments »

and then argue that they have the right to celebrate the gifting process while disrespecting a religious persons way of living.

You got them in the corner HeM keep punching!

What do you do if your significant other never likes to celebrate any holidays/birthdays/events of the year?

My husband is like that. I used to let it bother me, and now I just carry on without him on those days. It’s easier now that we have kids, I do it more for them now. But even though birthdays and such go unnoticed by him…I get plenty of wishes from others. He’s got some good qualities that outweigh this quirk. It saddens me, but I can’t change him. You need to decide if that’s important to you, and if it is…should you be with him?

Are the following events celebrated in the West not celebrated in Japan?

Christmas, Easter, New Years Eve/Day.

I ask because I’ve noticed music singles and albums are released on Christmas Eve and New Years Day, even from big artists such as Ayumi Hamasaki. It seems an unusual time to release new material, especially on Christmas Eve.
I mean not celebrated as much as they are in the West.

I wasnt asking if they arent celerated at all.

Christmas is recognized but its not a public holiday. Decorations are put up in many places especially stores a month or more in advance. They sell christmas cake and KFC. People line up outside of KFC for chicken on XMAS and XMAS EVE. For couples. XMAS is a big date night so the love hotels are often packed.

New Year’s Eve/Day most certainly. It’s one of the biggest events of the year as many, many people travel to their hometowns for New Years. They have about a week off from work called O-Shogatsu while we only one or two days off. The main thing is people go to shrines or temples in the days around New Years to do hatsumode – new year prayer for health and prosperity. At some temples they ring their big bell 108 times – this represents the number of sins of mankind.

Easter – not much at all save for a few decorations and chocolate. For the most part I never notice here in Tokyo unlike XMAS and New YEars. Some school kids will paint easter eggs but overall not much is done for easter. Most people are too busy getting ready for the next fiscal year – school and businesses start in April – or they are busy enjoying the cherry blossoms to give much thought to Easter. Add to the fact it changes every year, you can see why there isn’t much bother.
