Which is the last country to celebrate New Years Day?

I live in Vancouver, BC Canada. It is like just 5:40pm PST. So we have miles to go before Midnight. So are the West Coast’s of North and South America the last Continents / countries to celebrate New Years Day celebrations?
Which is the absolute first country to have their New Year’s Day parties?

I live in the U.S. so I’m by you, and yeah right now it is 5:40 here. Yawn, I have a long way to stay awake!!! Happy New Years! And I think China goes headfirst first into 2009.

any ideas for what i could do to celebrate a small, private Samhain celebration?

Posted by admin on October 15th, 2009 and filed under celebrate celebration | 4 Comments »

…christmas has nothing to do with Samhain.
Please, if you aren’t going to give me intelligent answers, I would appreciate no answers at all.

How many people?
How about a small dinner with the normal Samhain dishes of pork, apple, pumpkin, dark wheat bread, cider or mead or a dark wine.
Put an ‘ancestor plate’ out for the extra guests. Invite the guests to recite their family line male to male and female to female. Put a candle in the window to invite the ancestor spirits.
Take paper and have each guest write one ‘old’ habit they wish to ‘bury’ during the dark time of the year and one ‘new’ one whey wish to see happen once the light returns. Everyone go outside (if possible) and dig a small hole and bury those habits old and new, then ask the ancestor spirits to grant those present the ability to change.
Other ideas can be had at various websites I am sure. Happy Samhain.

I would like to find a celebration or ritual which includes releasing balloons to celebrate a persons life?

This person died 1 year ago the 12 of october

Wow-the 12th is my B-Day. Sorry for your loss tho.

When my G’Pa died, we all filled up our balloons and attached notecards with a memory written on them. Then we let them go outside. We’re of no specific religion. Hope that helps!

Why do you celebrate Halloween since it has a dark past?

It is a non-christian celebration. Why do people celebrate it?

Our family loves Halloween. We dress up in costumes, have a party and pass out candy to children. We celebrate Halloween because it is fun, especially for children. I don’t consider the "dark past".

How to celebrate grandparents 73rd wedding anniversary. Any ideas? They are looking foward to this celebration

They have been married for a very long time and I thnk it will be fun for them. I just need ideas please.

Get the family together, invite some of their friends, have cake and other snacks, gifts and perhaps some sort of slide show of their years together if you can get your hands on their pictures.

Do you think its wrong to celebrate a day when the founder of the celebration is a murderer?

The Earth day founder is a murderer and also was a socialist, anti-american. Do you think it’s wrong for our children to celebrate this in school?

Columbus was a murderer of Native tribes to put it in perspective.

We still celebrate Columbus Day

what is the real essence for us to celebrate different holidays?

i only wonder if we really know the real importance of numerous celebrations we celebrate each year

No, that has been lost. Holidays now are completely commercialized and are only to give each other "presents", as evidenced by the incessant holiday-themed advertisements everywhere.
