Christmas: should we celebrate Jesus Christ birthday?

Posted by admin on December 14th, 2009 and filed under celebrate jesus | 32 Comments »

The day that he was born is not mention in the bible so we can’t be for sure of the exact date and do people still celebrate with Christ Jesus in mind it seems to be so commercialized a money market.

If the angels sang and announced glad tidings to the world on the day of his birth, why not we- Christians celebrate his coming? Don’t expect the atheists to do it for us. If we don’t the very stones will cry out. I can’t speak for other churches who claim to be Christians, but in the Catholic Church, the focus of the celebration is liturgical and we have nothing to do with your Santa Clauses, expensive gifts, Christmas trees and the ringing of cash registers. for Catholics, it is the liturgical celebration that matters, not the accompanying material preparations. Perhaps this explains why suicide rates on Christmas Day is higher in non-Catholic countries that in strictly Catholic ones.

Is it possible to celebrate both Hannukah and Christmas?

Posted by admin on December 14th, 2009 and filed under christmas celebrate | 2 Comments »

I know that people with a spouse, or a parent, who celebrate both if one of them celebrates one of them.

But everyone in my family celebrates Christmas.
I like Christmas too, not as much as when I was a little kid though. But I don’t exactly want to celebrate it, but whatever. It’s a nice holiday.

It’s not a Christan holiday, so it’s possible, right?

Yes, it is.

How does your family celebrate Christmas, and what are your family traditions?

We have a huge family gathering at my Auntie’s place for lunch and dinner. She puts so much work into the food she makes. Awww :)

My husband and I usually open our gifts at home Christmas morning and then we go to my parents house and spend some time with them. Usually we go to my Grandmaws for christmas dinner.

We have one tradition that has stuck with my sister and I after growing up and moving out of the house. Every Christmas we always get at least 1 pajama item that gets opened on Christmas eve. Every since we were little Mom would buy us a pair of jammies or new slippers or something like that and after dessert we would get to sit around the tree and open our Christmas eve present. Then we would put them on and crawl on the couch with mom and she would read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas to us. My husband and I don’t read the story anymore, but we do watch a Christmas movie. It’s a tradition that I definitely intend to keep with my children.

Oh and I almost forgot, we also make sure to have a stocking every year. When we were kids my sister and I got to open our stockings while Dad was handing out the presents. My hubby and I always make sure to have a stocking, but we open it whenever since one of us passes out the presents.

What does the new ‘A’ goal celebration every premiership footballer seems to be doing mean?

Posted by admin on December 12th, 2009 and filed under celebrate celebration | 9 Comments »

Lately, everyone that scores in the premier league seems to be celebrating with this new celebration whereby they make the letter ‘A’ using both hands. Soccer AM contacted Andy Johnson, who is one of the players doing itto find out what it meant and he said he couldnt tell them "yet" implying that there is a reason but he couldn’t say. Does anyone know what it is about?!

Many footballers have joined a campain called, "A-STAR" which is a campain to help young people in their futures and try to keep them away from drugs and general negative behaviour.. And to try and steer them in the right direction and help them do things with thier lives…. Good to see that footballers do care about people less fortunate…. Well "SOME" footballers..

Peace!!

why we celebrate chrismas?

Posted by admin on December 12th, 2009 and filed under celebrate chrismas | 6 Comments »

The Catholic church established it as a day to celebrate the birth of Christ. However, we don’t know the actual day when he was borne. The giving of gifts is modeled after the wise men (we aren’t told there are three, BTW) giving gifts to the Savior as well as the pagan holiday practice of giving gifts.

I, personally, don’t celebrate it. I use it as a day to give gifts to loved ones for no particular reason at all.
