If you celebrate Jesus’ birthday, then how does Jesus pick up his gift?

Christians believe that when we give to the "least of these" we are giving to Jesus. This year, in honor of Jesus, some little kids in my community are getting a dolly, an Incredible Hulk action figure, and a Dora the Explorer. And the homeless people at the soup kitchen will be getting a Christmas meal.

I hope Jesus will be pleased.

How many people celebrate CHRISTmas, but don’t believe in Christ?

It seems to me that Americans have lost sight of the true meaning of Christmas and that is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the savior of all mankind. I do not understand how people can celebrate this day, if they do not believe in Christ. This is not a bashing for non-Christians and I am not trying to argue over the existence of Jesus. I just want to understand how and why people celebrate this holiday.

i’m a christian and i definitely believe in God and Jesus. and yeah, many people do lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas. every year on Christmas eve, we go to my grandma’s house so we can go to my other grandma’s house on Christmas day. at her house, we sing happy birthday to Jesus and at my other grandma’s house, we give thanks to God and Jesus. but we always do that.

when do you start to celebrate the Christmas holiday?

when dose yor your family start?

As soon as the tree goes up, which is the first weekend in December. There are Christmas parties, and we usually have one, too. Just a small get together, nothing fancy. Very casual. It’s the friendships & family that make the party… everything else is secondary.

Why do people celebrate Easter on diff. dates and not on a particular date like X’mas?

Posted by admin on October 21st, 2009 and filed under celebrate easter | 6 Comments »

I want to know why people celebrate it lyk every second sunday of april or however it is. Why doesnt it have a specific date? Why do they celebrate? What proof do they have its happend on that particular day itself?

The same is for Christmas also. Please give me an answer either seperatly for Easter and Christmas or both together.

Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring. This is in commemoration of the rebirth of the goddess of fertility, which was incorporated into Christianity in order to make it palatable to pagans who were being enticed to join the ranks of this fledgling religion in the fourth century.

The proper Holy Days were commanded by God in Leviticus 23 and include Passover and the Feast of Firstfruits. Passover is always on the fourteenth day of the Hebrew month of the abib (ripened barley).

Christmas is celebrated at the time of the renewal of the yearly cycle when the day starts getting longer, another pagan holiday. For the biblical truth of when Jesus was born, see http://www.messianic.com/articles/dates.htm.

(BTW, the only birthdays mentioned in the Bible were associated with ungodly men and had dire consequences — Gen. 40:20 and Matt. 14:6.)

Why should India celebrate two national events every year?

Posted by admin on October 19th, 2009 and filed under celebrate events | 9 Comments »

We celebrate both Independence day and REPUBLIC DAY EVERY YEAR.Is it not enough to celebrate one of them.I wonder if we are duplicating festivals and national holidays and spending more than necessary?

Each of these two refer to the two major events in the history of India – one for Independence (1947) and the other for becoming Republic in 1950. These two have two major dimensions in our national and political – self ruling system and our countrymen avail the opportunity to reiterate and re-dedicate themselves on these two important issues/events. Therefore, national celebration on these two days.

It is not duplicating and both of them have different themes and basic requirements.

Why does the US allow Texans to celebrate thier former republic and revolution?

Posted by admin on October 19th, 2009 and filed under celebrate what | 12 Comments »

These people should not be allowed to celebrate the republic of texas or their revolution. They are now part of america. The statues of Sam Houston should be torn down and statues of Washington put up. Thier people need to stop flying thier flag as high as the american flag. Most texans are anti-american and only seem to care about thier own state. Texans have nothing to celebrate.

We have a rich cultural heritage that we are proud of. We fought for freedom from Mexico. Like how the early United States fought for freedom from England. Then we became part of the United States. That does not mean we have to lose our identity. After all we are the Lone Star State. You ask these Texans and they will tell you they are proud to be a Texan and an American. I know I am.

do you think that Baptism celebrate Jesus ? why or why not ? ??

What are other things that you feel celebrate Jesus ?????

Baptism is an act of obedience by born again Christians. It is meant to symbolize our death to sin and our new life in Jesus Christ. It is also to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ

How many people out there don’t celebrate Christmas?

I celebrate Kwanzaa and not Christmas even if you can do both but what other holidays are out there. Please share.
Honestly, if you’re going to talk smack about the holiday,I’m going to report you.
Ashley M. I like your answer but the way my family celebrates it, we take the days to honor the great African Americans in history as well as in our family.I belive that Kwanzaa is about celebrating how far African-Americans came from slavery.I mean who’d ever thoght we have a really high possibilty of having our first black president.

And like I said, you shouldn’t be going up in this category if you’re going to talk smack about my favorite holiday.

Thanks for writting everyone.

Festivus for the rest of us!!!

Both Kwanzaa and Festivus were created created in 1966 and made popular in the late 90’s — One is good spirited and should be taken in the spirit of humor. The other is created by a felon that tortured women. hmmm … I think I have chosen better then you…

Did everyone have fun last night? what did u all do? which celebrated holiday did you yourself celebrate? ?

If Samhain do tell what you chose to honor the ancients?

We celebrated Samhain. We offered a plate of food to ancestors and asked their blessings on our family for the coming year. We use the Samhain ritual out of "the Pagan Family" book that we have had for years and which is now out of print. It is a great ritual, however, but too long to go into here.
