Do Messianic Jews celebrate the same holidays and traditions as the regular Jewish faith?

First of all, the other answerers were right. "messianics" are not Jewish. Most of them never WERE Jewish–they are Christians who get a kick out of "playing" Jewish, while at the same time gutting Judaism of its true beauty and meaning. They don’t understand why we object to their disrespectful behavior…and *I* don’t understand WHY they don’t understand!

Having said that, they make a really sad stab at doing things the same way, but from what I’ve seen, their efforts are fairly laughable.

My daughter attended a Jewish school, and they showed the kids a tape of a messianic "worship service", in an attempt to educate the kids about Christian attempts to deceive Jews. The school administration needn’t have worried about the kids–because the service was so strange as to be laughable. That’s what my daughter told me–that the whole assembly was actually laughing, watching messianic attempts to emulate Jews.

From personal experience, I’ve seen messianics trying to keep Jewish traditions and having absolutely no idea what they were doing. It’s painful to watch their profane trampling of sacred traditions.

And of course, there are many of our traditions that they PURPOSELY twist and change. When I was converting to Judaism, I bumped into a few messianics who tried very hard to convince me that they were good Jews–but who wanted only to bring me to Jesus. Before I realized who they were, I accepted materials from them, like tapes of prayers in Hebrew, etc. I listened to these tapes, and even I–a new convert-to-be–could tell that the blessings sounded off, as if whoever had made the tape didn’t know what they were doing. It took me awhile to realize why, but when I got to the "blessing for the new covenant", I realized why.

The messianics still denied that they believed in Jesus. They had infiltrated the congregation, were missionizing a lot, and had the nerve to LIE about their man-god. But then, their hero, Paul, said that he made himself into "all things" so that he could reach all men. So I guess that lying is a messianic tradition.

Sorry–I have no respect for them. Give me a good old fashioned Christian who is strong in his/her beliefs and has good moral character, and we’ll get along fine. But messianics aren’t honest–even with themselves!–and their attempts to ‘copy’ our traditions are pathetic.

God wants every one to enjoy life, why do people want to live under a guilt and fear based life style? Just open your mind and your heart, you can enjoy life and honer God, you don’t have to live under dogma to be a good person. If you read and believe in the good book, than you need to understand what it says. Christ gave us guide lines to live by, to love and help one another. He also wanted us to enjoy life. God created us for his own good pleasure. So enjoy the things that life offers and don’t get hung up on the miner things. What you fell in your heart is what it’s all about. How you are and interact with other people, not if you put lights on your house or not.

What special events are being done in the Philippines to celebrate Mama Mary’s birthday (9/8)?

Is your parish doing anything special?

Holy Mass and procession I guess.

This morning at school, we prayed the whole rosary and after each mystery, a group of sections will go to Her image and offer flowers, goods and money. Collected goods and money will be used in December, to help the poor.

Is it wrong if i celebrate Christmas?

Posted by admin on August 31st, 2009 and filed under celebrate chrismas | 16 Comments »

And don’t believe in jesus or god. Well I am not sure if i don’t or do believe in god. I am stuck in the middle somewhat. I find most of my family and friends are like this but we still go out and buy each other gifts. I enjoy Christmas, the dinner, the family being around and the spirit of it all. During this time of year i like to think as Christmas seeing the small ones happy. I know I shouldn’t be celebrating chrismas but I don’t see me stopping. Anyway i live in the uk so it’s aright since most people don’t go to church anyway and I’m totally confused about religion anyway

it not

Do atheists/nonbelievers, who celebrate holiday season, become offended that Christ is associated w Christmas?

Posted by admin on August 31st, 2009 and filed under celebrate holiday | 8 Comments »

I have been looking at questions and answers regarding the word "x-mas" and find the debate between believers and nonbelievers interesting. What is your take on it?

For the record, I am a proud believer in Jesus Christ and that suits me very well. I do not judge you. Please do not judge me.

I don’t thinkthey have a right to be offended that Christ is associated with Christmas. Christmas is a Christian holiday based on the birth of Christ, no matter what people may want it to mean now. That’d be like me deciding to celebrate another religion’s holiday and being offended over what it means.

Should True Christians celebrate Easter or the memorial of Christ death?

Posted by admin on August 31st, 2009 and filed under celebrate easter | 16 Comments »

What is Easter, how does it relate †o the ransom sacrifice?

Who attended the first Memorial or Lord’s Evening Meal?

Who attended the Passover the night of Jesus’ sentencing?

The Passover is the biblical anniversary that Christ died. Christ gave up his life as a ransom sacrifice. God in his turn raised Christ but on the basis that Jesus had fulfill his mission. Christ was beaten, scourged, impaled and treated as a criminal. This is what Christ endured before he died. Memorial is what is most important since we give thanks and appreciation of Christ who gave up his earthly life and so in obedience we observe what Christ commanded in Luke 22:19 during Last Evening Meal, "keep doing this in remembrance of me"

John 3:16
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.

The Passover (Nisan 14) for 2009 is on April 9th at sundown to April 10th sundown (Jews began their day at evening)

Who attended the first Memorial or Lord’s Evening Meal? All first century Christians would have just like Jehovah’s Witnesses continue today.

Who attended the Passover the night of Jesus’ sentencing?
The Last Evening Meal was attended by the 11 apostles since Judus Iscariot was sent away (to betray Christ). All Jews carried on the Passover tradition they have done before since the Exodus out of Egypt.
